Anyone who lives, works or attends a school in Ichikawa can use the reservation service. If the material (books, magazines or AV) is not on the shelf, you can reserve it.

Books and magazines can be reserved by password (Please continue reading for information on getting a password.)
You may reserve up to 10 materials. You may make up to 3 reservations and reserve as many 10 materials per day in the library. There is no limitation to the number of times you can reserve with your password

Reservation Service
When you reserve a material, there are four conditions.
1) If the material you require is in libraries in Ichikawa, we hold it.
2) If the material is out on loan, we wait for its return. 
3) If we do not have a book you require, and it will be needed by many people, we buy it. 
4) If a book or magazine is out of print, we will borrow it from a library out of Ichikawa.

3) and 4) will take time until we get the material.
By using a request card, we can accept reservations of CD’s and Video’s of five libraries (Central, Gyotoku, Shintoku, Minamigyotoku, Hirata). 
If the materials you require is in libraries in Ichikawa, you can make a reservation by OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) in the library or by internet with your password. If the materials are a 3) or 4) condition, you make a reservation at the counter in the library.

At the counter of the library

• People who live, work or attend school and are older than junior high school student can apply for a password.
• People whose borrowed material is over-due can not apply.
• When you apply, please hand in “The password application form” at the registration counter. 
• Password is four numbers. 
• When you forget your password, you should apply again.

• You can change your password by internet on the “Password change” screen. The new password can be used from the next morning.
• Only English words and numbers can be used. (single byte) English small letters can be distinguished from capital letters.
• Too long a password is inconvenient to reserve by OPAC in a library. A mixture of English capital and small letters is not accepted by OPAC in the library.

2) You can see your reservation and borrowing condition by internet.

The materials in the libraries can be searched by using the internet. You can access the system from anywhere such as your house, workplace or school anytime.

• You can make a reservation of the material you searched by entering your users code and password.

• Enter your user’s code and password by single byte.
• Do not use a hyphen (-) when entering the user’s code. 
• The system does not distinguish between English capital and small letters. Be careful when you change the password.

• You can reserve the materials in the libraries in Ichikawa. Materials we do not have (including material on order) cannot be reserved. Please reserve at the library counter.
• The day you reserve material, it is on a temporary reservation. We confirm your temporary reservation the next day to complete the reservation. 
• The material you reserved is available from the next day of your reservation. Even if the material is available when you reserved it, it could still be borrowed by others on that day. 

How to make a reservation on the Internet. 

1. ｢Search｣ the material you want to reserve (It is possible from the new arrivals list)
2. ｢Details of the Data｣ are shown. Click the ｢Reserve｣ button.
3. The next screen is ｢Reserve｣. Input your user’s code, password and choose the library you want to receive the material. When it shows “Are you sure you want to reserve?”, click ｢Yes｣.
4. ｢Reservation Confirm｣ is shown.

• CDs, Videos, materials for in-the-library reading only, missing or removed materials, long over-due materials, and the current issue of magazines are can not be reserved. 
• There is no reservation button.?The materials whose “place” is only “NW” are for schools in the city, so you cannot reserve them.
• 「音訳」＝Tapes for the blind can also not be reserved.

• You can cancel the reservation that you have made by OPAC in a library or by internet.
• You cannot cancel the reservation by internet when you reserved it at the counter in a library. You also cannot cancel the material held or ready to lend. Please contact the library you specified to receive the material from.

How to cancel the reservation by internet.

1. Open the window showing your reservation condition 
2. Click the material you want to cancel 
3. On the bottom of the screen it will show “Reserve cancel, OK?”
   When you want to cancel, click here.
4. The screen shows “You have succeeded to cancel”. When the screen shows “when you cancel the reservation, please contact us”, it means that the material is reserved at the counter or it is ready to lend. Please contact the library that will receive the material.

• The material which has “reservation” means it has another reader waiting to borrow it, so you cannot extend the borrowing period.
• Over-due material should be returned as soon as possible.
• If the material you returned is still on the screen as borrowed, please contact the library.

• When the material you reserved is ready to borrow, the library you can pick it up at will call you.
  Please come to receive a material within a week. After a week, we regard it as a cancellation.
• We call your registered phone number. When you change the number, please hand in a “change notice” at the registration counter. If you want to be notified at a specific time, please let us know.

• You can receive the material you reserved at the nearest library. When you reserve using a request card or want to change the library you will receive it at, please notify the library. When you reserve with your password, you choose the library on "specification of the library “ on the screen.
• CDs and video tapes can be checked out at five libraries (Central, Gyoutoku, Shintoku, Minamigyotoku, Hirata). Books and magazines can be received at the five libraries, the following institutions, and at a mobile library.
